After a series of snowstorms barreled across the Plains and Great Lakes regions, millions across the Northeast are under winter weather advisories.

Swaths of the U.S. are expected to be hit with multiple intrusions of frigid air this month.

"A winter storm will approach the Mid Atlantic and Northeast beginning Monday evening," the Weather Prediction Center said.
